My friend Tom has tough sales targets to meet. He’s working hard to get there.
His boss is on his case daily. How’s it going? Where are you at?
Tom is stressed and tired. He wonders what more he can do.
We know that short-term stress is ok – it can inspire and motivate us. But long-term stress can wear us out, leading to anxiety, poor concentration, decreased performance and well-being.
Since we know that this kind of stress is bad for us, why are we so quick to pick it up when it’s handed to us?
As a target.
A deadline.
A budget.
If we were to diligently say NO to bad stress and its backing crew of fear, imagine the joy and creativity we could bring into our work and our homes.
Bad stress doesn’t produce results. Fear doesn’t motivate.
People do.
