Last night, I admitted to myself and to God that I am feeling weary.
The words, “Fix your gaze on Him and not on your circumstances,” came to mind.
Those circumstances include my partner being in hospital for, so far, seven days.
Thinking about it all adds a layer of heaviness to the weariness.
My attention is taken up dwelling on the situation, rather than sitting in the anchoring strength of God.
If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.”

Later, an image of a puppet came to mind. A puppet sitting on a shelf is lifeless until the puppet master picks up the marionette cross and begins moving it. The movement doesn’t come from the puppet itself; it springs to life when the cords above are moved.
It made me think about how, even though I can move and act on my own, the true source of my life and strength is above me. God is holding me up—thin, invisible cords connecting me to Him. God gives me capacity, ability, strength, and movement. This image reminds me that the source is not me, but Him.
He is ABOVE me and ABOVE ALL THINGS.
Including any circumstance.
