“I’m part of an anthology book project called ‘What is love’”.
“Oh cool! Hey, guess what happened to me last week?”
The disinterest is familiar, but I don’t let it catch or my disappointment show. Instead, I ask, “What happened”?
Since that conversation, I’ve been reflecting on interest.
Being interested.
Receiving interest.
It feels sparse in places.
Scriptures and quotes came to mind, the more we give, the more we gain . . .
Even with an “interest received” tank that feels low, I know the solution is not to withhold my interest but to give it attentively and generously.
The truth is I can’t be interested in everything. And neither can you.
What rings your bells might not ring mine, at least not to the same degree.
But when there, the conversation, attention, and connection are way better.
Interest is a gift.
