
As I push my trolley around the supermarket, the only unmasked faces are babies and toddlers.
I smile broadly as I always do yet the blank stares back, remind me that these little ones are trying to make sense of me. Their wide eyes look puzzled and a bit perplexed.
My half-face is difficult to read.
Even when I am giving my most animated behind-the-mask smile, do my eyes convey friendliness, or do I just look googly-eyed and scary?
I wonder what goes through these little ones’ minds as they look out upon a sea of masked faces?
Maybe its a game of peek-a-boo? But the players don’t seem to know the rules…
