When Worry Isn’t Care: The Plank in My Eye

I often worry.
I thought it was because I care so much.

But the Holy Spirit showed me that some of my “caring” is driven by unhelpful actors: judgment and criticism—pretending they know better and hiding behind the noble guise of worry.

I didn’t see them there. But you did.
After all, there’s a giant plank in my eye.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?” Matthew 7:3-4 NIV
