An insight has inspired me to view “upsets” as dangling carrots vying for my attention.

“Look at ME”, they say.
“Talk about ME.”
“Think about ME.”
“STAY AWAKE with me!”

They distract!
Sometimes for hours.
Sometimes for days and for one or two “issues”; actual years!

Disrupting, distorting, derailing:
Progress, productivity, creativity.

This dangling carrot: a flag, a signal. Not to attend to but to turn from.

Towards God.
And staying there.

This attention produces.
Peace, clarity, sense, quiet and more…

  1. Beautiful Jacqueline. I so love the way you say so much with so little words. It truly is an art, one which I’d love to emulate.

As for the message, thanks for the reminder that focussing our attention on God is beneficial to us, emotionally, spiritually, and psychologicaly, whilst focussing on those carrots dangled by the Enemy, only serves to distract and diminish us.
